Steve Lacy Charlotte Concert reviews
Rod Stewart
Steve Lacy is an excellent performer, and I immensely enjoy watching his shows. I booked this venue without realizing it was an outdoor concert, which was my mistake. However, having been to outdoor concerts at various venues before, including Harvey's, Thunder Valley, and Sleep Train, this experience was particularly frustrating.
The seating process was chaotic, with people entering from all directions as the show began. I was seated in Section 203, Row A, and the crowds of people trying to find their seats in the dark were very distracting. Many individuals stood in front of our seats arguing with event staff about their late arrival.
The aisles were filled with people standing, not in their seats, making it difficult to see, especially when they held up recording devices throughout the show. I choose seats in an "A" row specifically to avoid obstructions, but this time it was a disaster. Additionally, there was constant smoking in the seating areas, ranging from cigarettes to cigars and pot. While I don't mind smoking in designated areas, as a non-smoker, it was unpleasant to endure nearby. Event staff did nothing to redirect smokers to smoking areas.
The concert had an unusual number of latecomers who disrupted those of us who were on time. Another concern was the balcony hotel guests, and I wondered about the screening process for them, especially after a past gun violence incident in Las Vegas. It felt unsettling to be vulnerable to potential threats from above. This reflects the reality of our world today. I am unsure if I will return to this venue in the future.
